I am only one person. How can I change the world? Well, I can’t change the world alone but if I join others, who join others, who join others, together we can make a difference.

When I was a child, we were beginning to learn that our environment could not sustain the damage that was being done. Resources were finite and we would run out in our lifetime if nothing were done to conserve them. We all said ‘What can we do?’ It was suggested by some that we should give up our cars, heated and cooled homes and all the comforts and convenience we had come to rely on. This was not an acceptable option. Many gave up. The problem was too hard to solve.

Luckily, for us and for you, there were some who decided that anything effort, no matter how small, was better than just giving up. They got together to spread the word. They suggested alternatives. They helped develop more alternatives. They developed ways to spread the word. They educated more people, who educated more. Now schools teach our children ways to sustain the environment, ways to live without polluting our world and ways to clean up the mess already made. Our children are helping to develop alternatives to help sustain our lifestyles while sustaining the planet.

We taught our children that they could change the world. Piece by piece, day by day, we are beginning to reverse some of the damage. We can’t give up trying, even if we feel overwhelmed by the problem. There is proof we are winning. The world can recover if every one keeps trying. Together we can change the world.
